Hot Seat

Tonight I started the HOT SEAT series at drumline. I remember when I did this at LQ and Mr. Baker was like, I wanna do it. It was pretty awesome. Basically what it is: I have one of the students go up and and stand there. i tell the rest of the line that they get one question and one question only. If it was the last time they're gonna see each other, what would they ask them? 

Ok so, I'm excited. I'm excited for change that is about to happen within the next few days. I'm going away for a few days for a friends Bday but I get to hang with alumni and meet up with my alumni from when I first started teaching. I will also be picking up my artist that I'm producing from Australia. Her and I will be working for the next few months. Talk about getting down to business. She's coming over here to work with me. I'm just honored. Amazing what technology and the internet can do to bring people together.

Upgrades on gear finally. I can produce better work without so many obstacles.

Building Metropolis Opener by Tony T Nguyen

Well, here's 3/4 of my show this year for the school I'm working at. Originally this show was gonna go to the other school that I was gonna get rehired back at but there was some drama there . Bottom line is, they're getting a chance to prove themselves to be better this year. Hopefully so. I want it back to how it used to be there. 

It's funny how you're ready to go in one direction and then in an instance, you get taken in a different direction. I actually welcome this change. I need change in my life. Well something needs to change so I can experience something different, either good or bad, at least it's different so I can grow more with experience.

Interesting Day at the Hospital

Today I went to the hospital and played some music for a few patients with some friends. I was nervous at first. I overcame it by reminding myself that today was not about me and that it was about them. So I eased up and just performed. One by one they came in and sat, listened, sang, performed, and such. It was great to see the smiles and hopefully they had some fun even though it's not a great place to be. 

I can't imagine life confined behind pale walls, no music, no art, or creative outlet. I've thought about checking myself in at times, based on the movie "Patch Adams" just to get away, but never really researched it. Days like today only fuels my drive to be me as an artist and to create meaningful work instead of trying to be like the others.

The Things I Think About

I seem to get into this sad depression type of mode when I'm in between marching and indoor seasons. I guess it's because I settle down and have time to think. I would think it's a good thing to wind down but it ends up going back to my past. I think about relationships. I have a love hate thing going on with the past.

I can remember why I took on so much. It was to occupy my time so I wouldn't have to think about my ex. Great things came from it. The bad side of things is, the feelings awaits me when I'm not doing anything. People say time heals the soul and such, but it's been a really long time. I know I'm better from it however, I'm not 100%. Are we ever at our 100%

My Love

I'm a type of person that really likes to share news and such but it's so hard to keep quiet when it comes to anything artistic. I want to share all the projects that are going on but alas I must wait.

I guess I'll just share some heheheheeh.

So I've been pulling back from the media a bit to just take a look at what the hell has been going on. I'm getting turned off from people around me hustling to get contacts and such or use me to get to other artists. It leaves this bad taste in my mouth and it's honestly annoying. Knowing that, it made me evaluate myself and I don't want to get caught up it that anymore. I honestly just want to work with genuine people. I don't care if they're famous or not. Good music and true content is where I need to be.

So that led to my love. I am beyond excited. I'm going back to the way I taught drumline back in the day because it worked for me. So I vowed myself to get back into that zone and I'm sooooo excited. I got asked to teach at a second school and well, they're gonna be in for a surprise. At my first school, I just had auditions and it seriously was great. I told them about doing the journals and other wacky "Tony" lessons. I'm also excited to grow as a designer. 

I've been on this high about teaching again. Like reallly teach and make a mark with these kids. Stories have been shared about the "old" days, and I'm ready to get things back to how they should be.
